An online marketplace for pictures, illustrations and artwork while providing proof of authorship

Birdlance has the ambition to become one of the best online marketplaces for pictures, illustrations and artwork while also protecting the intellectual property of Photographers and Graphic Designers by being able to prove authorship and report copyright infringement of any kind by using:

Blockchain technology

The immutable property of a Blockchain for proof of authorship

Computer Vision

Various state of the art computer vision, image recognition and image similarity techniques are applied to detect authenticity and modifications

Reporting of unsolicited usage

Unsolicited usage of a photograph in either its original as in its edited form can be detected by Birdlance and will be reported to the original author of the content

Birdlance Blockchain

Birdlance runs its own Proof Of Stake Blockchain (based on NXT).
Our utility coin (BLNC) can be used for buying and selling photographs on the platform and buying various Birdlance services.
Since the Birdlance Blockchain doesn't require any mining but rewards are gained by staking, it is a lot more energy efficient and green than any other Proof Of Work Blockchain.

Common Questions

Contact us if these are not the questions you're looking for.

  • How to run the Birdlance wallet on a Windows device?

To run the Birdlance wallet on a Windows device, simply download the installer or zip file. You can run the wallet by opening run.bat or clicking the Desktop shortcut if you used the Windows installer. You need to have Java installed.

  • How to run the Birdlance wallet on a Mac or Unix device?

To run the Birdlance wallet on a Windows device, simply download and extract the zip file. Open a terminal and run ./run.sh (compile with sh .\compile.sh the first time). You need to have Java installed.

  • Can I use the same account I've created here on the marketplace when it goes live?

Yes, you will be able to use the same account on the marketplace once it goes live.

  • Can I mine BLNC?

No, you cannot mine BLNC. The Birdlance blockchain is a Proof Of Stake blockchain. This means it cannot be mined like a coin based on Proof Of Work such as Bitcoin. People get rewarded with coins by validating the network. To earn BLNC you must "stake" your coins in a wallet and enable forging or run a full node on a cloud platform such as Amazon Web Services.
